Nripendra Narayan Memorial Boy’s Hostel

 The college Boy’s Hostel is a residence of meritorious student from distant neighboring area of this region since 1915, its year of foundation. The life in this hostel develops academic intelligence as well as social consciousness and creativity of mind. The first students’ protest against military autocracy was initiated by the boarders of the hostel during the British Raj   on 8th August, 1946. The Hostel Building is a unique piece of traditional architecture in the skyline of Cooch Behar.

Admission Norms:

 Regular students of ABN Seal College Cooch Behar are eligible for admission to this hostel . Admission will be for a full University Session( i.e. for the period from June to May). Application for admission to the Hostel should be submitted to the Superintendent of the Hostel in a prescribed form within a fixed date, to notified by the Hostel Superintendent .Each application should be accompanied by

i)                    Certificates of Good conduct from the Superintendent of Hostel last resided / form the Head of the Institution last attended / a respectable person of the locality.

ii)                   Attested copy of the Marksheet of the last exam passed

iii)                 Distance certificate from MLA / Gram Panchayat / ISDO / BDO.s

Code of Conduct:

Allotment of rooms, Seats etc is subject to the discretion of the Hostel Superintendent & his decision in this matter is final .There can be no discussion on this issue. Grievances of a boarder if any must be always reported in writing to the authority. Mere argument will not be tolerated in this regard.

Conduct and Discipline:

Under the provision of West Bengal code , the following code of conduct & discipline should be maintained , failing which he will be expelled from the Hostel and also from the College .Any attempt to take up the cause of offending boarder or any campaign  on his behalf will be considered as  act of in discipline –

i)                    Holding any meeting at the hostel except with the approval of the Superintendent.

ii)                   Participation in strikes or any such activity involve defiance to hostel authority, any activity of political nature or any  active support to any political movement etc.

iii)                 Introduction of any person without the superintendent permission into the hostel .

iv)                 Insubordination or disrespect of any kind to the  authority & elected members of the hostel.

v)                  Indulgence in gambling and use of intoxicants.

vi)                 Any other misconduct or act of indiscipline not provided for by the rules.

These are in addition to the rules & regulation already in existence.

 

Hostel Life:

NNM Boy’s Hostel provides an academic and cultural life to the Boarders .Boarder enjoy their hostel life through the celebration of Independence Day, Republic Day, Saraswati Puja , Freshers’ Welcome and Holly Utsav.

 

Library:

The Hostel Library is an integral part of hostel life. Old Collection of Journals and Novels are the pride possession of this small Library. Presently this Library subscribes most of the English and Bengali News Papers and Magazines.

 

Indoor and Outdoor Game Facility :

Boarders spent their afternoon in Carom Boards and Playing Table Tennis. Along with Indoor Games Facility, Hostels enjoy the Outdoor Game Facility like Cricket, Football, Volley Ball and Badminton also.
